Q&A with Brooke Art Studio

Q&A with Brooke Art Studio

Introducing this gorgeous, creative goddess Brooke Michalski - photographer, designer and all round creative soul, who turns everything she touches to gold! A little ray of sunshine who warms and brightens up any room, or anyone's life she touches - she truly is one of the most caring, genuine people you will ever meet, who continually inspires me everyday.
Over the last few years I have had the absolute pleasure working with Brooke, she is the talented photographer and stylist behind all my food shots, my website creator and she has been working away with me on my next big project. This young woman is a professional and perfectionist at what she does, but what she delivers and brings to the table goes above and beyond - this girl continually blows my mind with her creativity and passion with every project she is involved in, and I can't wait to watch her journey unfold.
So find a cosy spot to relax, and enjoy this interview. My hope is that Brooke will inspire you along your journey as well.
Love Sally x o

Tell us a bit about yourself, and what you do?

My name is Brooke, I'm 28 years old, married for almost 5 year to Konrad, a school art teacher turned freelance creative. At the moment I'm working as a photographer and visual brander/graphic designer, but I would't be surprised if in a couple of years I'm exploring my creativity in a new way. I have a passion for self-expression, creativity & using my gifts to support & empower others on their own journey to self-expression.

When did you realise that this was your passion or what you wanted to do?

Being an art teacher I firmly believed that you should 'practice what you preach', so I maintained a creative practice outside of the classroom. This eventually led me out of teaching & into running my own creative business. Really I simply did my best to follow my heart/longings/desires/creativity & ended up here. I never really planned this, but I have been absolutely loving how it's been turning out.

What’s been your biggest accomplishment to date?

Either spending three years working on my creative ventures overseas, walking 823km across Spain, or having the most incredibly soulful women in my life - I so treasure my relationships.

What has been your greatest challenge in life so far, and how did you overcome it/how are you working to overcome it?

Being a young married couple & moving to China for a year - that was pretty challenging, but also such a transformative time in my life. I'm lucky to have amazing people (& husband) in my life who support me - I think quality relationships are key to overcoming challenges.

Describe yourself in 5 words

Passionate, Creative, Observant, Sensitive & Authentic

What are three things you are most grateful for?

My relationships, access to pristine nature, working with my creativity daily

What do you love most about yourself?

My eyes & their ability to see beauty in pretty much everything!

How important is self-care to you, & how do you take time out just for you - to nourish your soul?

Good question. I’m actually really bad at self-care, but it's a good start that I'm even aware of that! I've been loving laying in the sun, listening to my favourite playlist, a quality face mask, a hot shower.

What’s your favourite way to move your body?

I love a good body pump or box fit class.

If you had a self-care box you could open up when you needed some timeout, what would you fill it with?

Some sort of sweet treat, quality oil & delicious tea.

What’s the best advice you have ever received in your life?

Different advice has hit me in different seasons, but some advice that's helped me recently is "Don’t worry about being successful, just be good at what you choose to do & everything else will sort itself out." - simple, uncomplicated, gold!

What are 5 things you can’t live without?

My camera, laptop, ceramics, hard drives & flowers

What’s one thing you haven’t done that you really want to do?

Travel to Sicily & Puglia, spend a month in Paris, create a body of work & exhibit!

What’s one thing most people wouldn’t know about you?

I have a phobia/fear of chickens - especially Leghorns - they freak me the effff out!

If you could time travel - where & what time era would you go?

I'd probably time travel 100 years into the future, to see if I could figure out the trajectory of our society (hopefully I'd see a better world).

Who would your celebrity BFF be?

Chris Martin - lead singer of Coldplay

Any advice for women following their dreams, but are afraid to take the next step?

Ask yourself "what lights me up?", then endeavour to explore & do more of the things. The world needs more people dedicated to their hearts deepest longings. You can trust what lights you up, I did & that's how I've made it this far. Also collaboration of competition every time - don't be afraid to share your ideas, dream with others & invest in your passions. Life is short, too short to waste.
